After almost 20 years as a sysadmin, working for myself, in the enterprise, and for startups, I had a problem: I viewed vendors as the enemy. So I went to work for a tools vendor as a traveling consultant. As a consultant, I quickly discovered I had another problem: I viewed sales as the enemy, and salespeople as aliens I couldn't understand. So when the opportunity presented itself, I went to work for them. As a sales engineer, I soon had another problem: I viewed engineering as the enemy. But...
